Netflix have shared a forty second teaser for the new season of hit series Squid Game. The company announced many upcoming shows heading to the platform during an event they dubbed Geeked Week and it included a first look at the return of one of their most popular shows.

Squid Game was a sensation when it first hit the streaming platform back in 2021, earning a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and even spawning its own reality game show series, also on Netflix. Now, a new 40-second teaser trailer has landed giving fans a glimpse of what they can expect. Here's what we learned from it.

First of all, Gi-Hun's game isn't over just yet. Despite the events of the previous series, Lee Jung-jae returns to reprise his role and it looks like his character will be forced back into playing the games once again.

The poster for season two shared by Netflix also states that 'The game will not stop' which hints that the rules for winning the game could be about to change this time around.

However, the synopsis for the new series shares that the events take place three years after the first and that Gi-hun is determined to find those responsible for running the games and bring them down.

A previous trailer showed the character donning a brand new look with red hair, which we don't see in the new teaser. It could mean he spends some amount of time on the run.

There are very brief glimpses of contestants entering a huge open space, many Pink Soldiers armed with guns and dangerous looking contraptions, which could mean we're about to see brand new games added to the roster.

The teaser trailer also confirmed the date that the new episodes finally land with fans already promising to rearrange their Christmas plans.

Season 2 of Squid Game will be available on Netflix starting December 26, which is great news even for anyone in your life who has still not even seen the show yet. They have no excuse and plenty of time catch up on it now. A third season is also slated for 2025.
