Prince Harry's sweet gesture to Meghan Markle when asked about his favourite smell

Send Push

Prince Harry made an adoring gesture to wife Meghan Markle when asked about his favorutie smell in a candid TV interview.

The Duke of Sussex stopped by for a cocktail with Stephen Colbert during an episode of the Late Late Show last year while promoting his controversial Spare memoir. The pre-recorded chat saw the pair dig deeper into the book as Harry spoke about his personal revelations during the writing process, while also touching on his grief and traumas.

But in a more lighthearted segment dubbed 'Colbert Questionert' the prince answered a series of quick-fire questions about his favourite things, including his most loved food, action movie and seat on a plane. When asked what his favourite smell was, Harry, without hesitation immediately responded: "My wife."

The Duke, who married Meghan in 2018, also described the rest of his life in five words, choosing "Freedom, happiness, clarity, space" and "love." The words appeared to be a nod to a later chapter in his life after publicly telling the world, in his own words, about the tensions between himself and Meghan, and the royal family.

Strained relationships between the two led to the couple's eventual separation from the monarchy and move to the US, where they currently live with their two children, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2.

The prince then went on to reveal that his favorite sandwich was a "cheese and ham toastie [grilled] with dijon mustard on top," before adding he was trying to be careful with various "Americanisms and Britishisms" because "it got me and my wife into a lot of trouble in the beginning of our relationship."

Sharing an example of their previous blunders, he referenced horse riding and horseback riding, asking: "Where else are you going to ride the horse?" as the audience erupted with laughter.

The prince then jokingly revealed that one thing he owns but "should really throw out," is a pair of "ripped boxer shorts," admitting that he didn't "want to let them go."

While there was no mention of the details surrounding Harry's difficult relationship with particular members of the royal family, including Prince William and Queen Camilla, who the Duke openly critisiced in Spare, he did continue to make ample references to his wife, Meghan.

Harry, who is now just days away from his 40th birthday, is reportedly gearing up for a huge celebration in the lead up to the milestone.
