Phil Foden says this season has been the biggest lesson of his career.

Foden has been a huge part of success as he has won six titles, the and a Treble in an already glittering career. But ’s all-conquering four-in-a-row champions could miss out on the biggest prizes this year as and the is the last domestic trophy they can win.

It has been an eye-opening campaign for City but, even amid the disappointment, Foden says he has taken a lot from the campaign and is convinced they will come back stronger.

Foden, 24, speaking to TNT Sports’ Sign Up: Into said: “I feel like this season, even though we have not won [as much], I have learnt the most from it. It just shows how much you have to put in to win these trophies and the level that is set to win.

“It’s a learning curve for me this season and next season hopefully we can be back to our best and play the way that we used to.”

England star Foden also says this season has shown that no team can stay on top forever and it can make them hungrier for next year. Foden even believes that City does not need a major overhaul to get back to winning trophies as he says that their recent successes has ultimately taken its toll.

City boss Guardiola has overseen nine years at the Etihad in which they have won every domestic trophy and enjoyed European success and Foden believes it is impossible to maintain those standards and demands every year.

But the City star is convinced that they will be back next year to compete with and in the title race as well as being back among the top sides in Europe. Foden said: “I would put it down to a number of things.

"Obviously we have had a lot of injuries, all of the stuff we have won in the past has been so demanding on the body. You cannot stay at the top forever, sometimes there are downs in life.

“Not much needs to change. Just believe in the manager, try keep players fit which is important because we have had a lot of injuries, team spirit, be motivated to try and go and do it again and create a great surrounding – I feel that is all we need to do and we should be back.”

Foden has also revealed that making his City debut is still the biggest honour of his career while he picked out Spain star Lamine Yamal - who helped beat England in last year’s Euros final - as his favourite player to watch.

Foden said: “Just making my debut for was always a dream of mine. Playing in all the age groups, and the academy, working my way up and to finally play for the first team was a moment I had always dreamed of. For me, that was the biggest achievement, playing in a City shirt.

“There are so many talented players in football right now. I like the winger Lamine Yamal. I think he is performing really well at such a young age as well – I enjoy watching him at the moment.”

Foden was taking part in TNT’s ground-breaking show fronted by deaf British Sign Language presenters Damaris Cooke ( supporter) and Rolf Choutan ( fan) who visit Premier League grounds all over the country throughout the season.

They have already visited Tottenham, , and Arsenal with Manchester City and featured in the next episode which airs on Friday. He also revealed his personal interest in working with deaf children and says using his power as a well-known footballer is important to him.

Foden added: “It’s the second time I have worked with deaf children. It’s something I enjoy. I have an autistic brother as well with a disability. It’s something I have always wanted to do is use my network, my football, off the pitch as well, try and get involved with the kids and help them the best I can."

TNT Sports launched Sign Up - Into Football last season, a new TV programme aimed at raising the profile of the deaf community and raising the visibility of British Sign Language (BSL).
