The 69-year-old previously spoke about a "wedge" that came between the couple, which signalled the end of their marriage. He told Lorraine Kelly: "We were under pressure, it was crazy." He also blamed himself for their relationship downfall in an interview with the , saying he handled their newfound stardom "very badly."
"It was such a change in our life and I sadly made a right mess of things and I had a massive part to play in our relationship ending, a massive part to play," he said. Clive also clarified that there was no cheating, and it was their fighting that tore them apart.
He told : "I'd like people to know that what caused the split between us wasn't anyone else – it was the constant fighting. My anger drove Amanda away. Looking back on it, I can see now that Amanda needed someone to talk to, someone she could trust, and at that stage, I wasn't that person."
Amanda managed to move on with one of Clive's friends - web designer Robert Davies, who is 22-years her senior. Robert had helped the pair set up their website to promote the farm, and they even had the approval from Clive to start dating. However their romance didn't last long, and abruptly ended with them no longer on speaking terms.
She told the Daily Mail: "I never set out looking for another relationship... Clive knew about it from the very beginning – he actually suggested Rob and I would be a good match." She continued: "At that point, a few years ago now, Clive was also seeing someone else and was openly dating.
"It wasn't a secret, everyone roundabout knew, even the children. But the impact of my and Rob's relationship was far-reaching for everyone involved." Despite their sad split, Amanda and Clive are back on screen with their children to reinstate the farm next door to its former glory.
Amanda about her pride for her children's individuality: "I absolutely am. I've got nine kids. They're all very different characters. Raven's very academic, she's working as a scientist and still studying. I'm so proud of her. Reuben too, he's doing something completely different, but doing what he loves. It's the same with the others, they've all got their own personalities."
Speaking candidly about the new show and its setup, with viewers watching them as a united family, Amanda confessed: "You know, you don't always get the happy ending that you want and things go wrong but that's life isn't it and that's what it's all about. It's how you get through it, it's how you negotiate it. So I'm hoping people enjoy a taste of the countryside and watching us and the kids."
