used 'rock star tricks' to fill a 'crater-size hole of intellect, class and taste' at 's bizarre Madison Square Gardens rally, according to a body language expert.

She said: "Melania looks like a woman who might feel she has found her voice thanks to the recent publication of her book. She now presents as a stand-alone asset to her husband with her body language at this NY rally projecting much-increased levels of confidence and showmanship. She surfs the energy of the crowd here, when she might once have stood looking rigidly intimidated by it. At the start of her speech, she uses tricks and techniques favoured by rock stars to rev the audience up. Looking around at the crowd behind her she tosses her hair a little in a preening gesture before standing with a wide rictus smile on her face.

"But then she bends to the mic in a gesture that is unnecessary in sound terms but which adds to the rock star drama as she shouts out 'Good evening New York City!' followed by a 'Hello Madison Square Gardens', even performing the fake adjusting of the mic gesture that singers love to use to show control of the stage."

Delving into how Melania tries to compensate for the divisive behaviour of her husband, she added: "The usually Sphynx-like FLOTUS delivers this small speech in a shout with her voice even cracking slightly but adorably from the effort as she does so. Her script suggests she is now being used to fill the crater-size hole of intellect, class and taste that is left thanks to the Trump/Hulk Hogan-style line up of the rest of the rally. Melania has gone from a woman who looks daunted and rigid with anxiety front of stage to a woman who can play a crowd like the best of them."

The rally has elsewhere been slammed for a number of offensive comments made by speakers, including one comedian who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage”. Tony Hinchcliffe, a right-wing stand-up comic, said at one point during his appearance: “I don’t know if you guys know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.” David Rem, a childhood friend of Trump, meanwhile called Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris "the devil" and “the antichrist”.
