As initially reported by , Brazil has already summoned Weverton as Alisson's stand-in. The Selecao's medical team reached out to Liverpool after the Palace match and was informed that the Reds' player wouldn't be able to participate in the forthcoming matches.

Weverton, aged 36, has represented his country in 10 matches. His last appearance was in 2023, when the Palmeiras keeper played the entire 90 minutes of a friendly against Morocco.

Brazil had a sluggish start to their qualification campaign, securing just one point from their four matches in 2023. They also suffered a defeat at the hands of Paraguay in September, with their current total of 10 points from eight games leaving their qualification prospects uncertain.
