Kerry Katona was forced to defend her behaviour after fans accused her of being drunk.
The former Atomic Kitten star raised eyebrows among her followers when she uploaded a post to her Instagram page where she was taking an evening stroll with her daughter Heidi. Kerry appeared to be in good spirits in the video clip but caused concern when she mentioned she had been wanting to "hug a tree."
Speaking in the video Kerry showed off the night-time scenery in a deserted Canary Wharf while admitting it was very peaceful as Heidi strolled ahead of her. Kerry said: "So I am having a lovely walk. Heidi is with me. Molly has gone off on a bike to the shop. I'm on Canary Wharf staying at a hotel and it's just beautiful and peaceful. Look how pretty. Look at the view. It's lovely.
"I got up this morning I did some meditation at the wisdom tree. I really wanted to give the tree a hug. I thought best not. Just in case people thought I was a weirdo. But I am a weirdo. But that's ok."
After a sea of comments then accusing her of being drunk in the video Kerry posted another series of videos to her stories on Instagram where she denied having had any alcohol and explained that she had only been drinking water while on a day out with her girls. Seeing the comical side to what people were saying she assumed that it was her desire to hug a tree that had sparked the accusations so went on another stroll with daughter Molly McFadden and posed with her arms wrapped around a tree alongside London's River Thames.
She also updated the caption on her original post to read: "@canaryriversideplaza just coming here… nothing wrong with a bit of tree hugging #nightstroll just read the comments and do so many people think I’ve been drinking?? Because I wanted to hug a tree?? I’m just that kind of person who doesn’t love a good tree hug?"
The outing comes after it was revealed that Heidi could be set to land a lead role in a huge new movie. She has auditioned for a major part in a Pinocchio feature film, and those in the industry think this could be just the start. The teen has also reportedly “secured other incredible opportunities” and is determined to make the most of them. Kerry shares her daughter with her ex-husband Mark Croft.
Earlier this year the 17-year-old spoke to OK! Magazine about her aspirations, and it's clear she wants to follow in her mum's footsteps. Ambitious Heidi has already tasted fame on The Voice Kids in 2020, where she reached the second round, and now she wants more.
Heidi openly admitted to OK! "I want to be famous, I don't care what I do, I just want to be famous. It's not even a 'want', it's something I know. I'm going to get there eventually." Kerry recognises the star potential in Heidi, laughing at their similarities: "Heidi is a mini version of me she's so funny and quick, it cracks me up," she admits. "I can see her on TV."
