Jonnie Irwin's widow shares emotional update as fans reach out with support

The late TV presenter 's widow has been flooded with messages of support after she shared a poignant update on life without him.

Jonnie, known for hosting and , passed away, aged 50, in February, . He had been married to wife Jess since 2016 and she's now raising their three children.

Attending a family wedding in on the weekend, Jess took to Instagram to express her heartache over experiencing such significant events without Jonnie, as reported by . She posted a photo of them together and wrote: "Weddings are hard. I love celebrating love. But I miss my love so much it hurts. I want my husband. I want my vows to have meant forever too."

Jonnie, who graced our screens on from 2004 to 2021 and the from 2010 until his passing in 2023, was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2020. Jessica, mother to their children Rex, Rafa, and Cormac, has openly after such a profound loss.

In her heartfelt post just days ago, she reminisced about her own wedding day, saying: "Our wedding was the best day of my life. It also went surprising to plan which is something Jonnie and I weren't good at. It truly was my perfect wedding with a sprinkling of chaos aka naked groom at some point of the weekend. Just want to get home to my babies now."

Fans rallied around Jess with support after she shared the update on social media. One follower commented: "This is so utterly heartbreaking and incredibly sad. Remember Jess, he is with you every step of the way but, more importantly, you will meet him again - of that you can be sure. Huge hugs sweetheart. Thinking about you angel." Another said of the outpouring of sympathy: "Jess, we all sense your pain, but of course only you can know how it feels. I hope that knowing so many of us care helps in some way. Love to you and the boys."

Jonnie was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 but kept the news private until two years later, . Earlier this year, his family announced that he had passed away with an emotional statement about him.

The family's statement read: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Jonnie’s passing. A truly remarkable soul, he fought bravely against cancer with unwavering strength and courage. Jonnie touched the lives of so many with his kindness, warmth, and infectious spirit. At this time, we kindly ask for the privacy of Jonnie’s family as they navigate through this profound loss. Their grief is immeasurable, and your thoughts, prayers, and support are deeply appreciated.

"As we remember the beautiful moments shared with Jonnie, let us celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy that will forever be etched in our hearts. Jonnie may be gone from our sight, but his love, laughter, and memories will live on. Rest in peace, dear Jonnie. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten."
