Manchester United fans have slammed for his “miss of the season” against .

The Red Devils travelled to the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon aiming to make it back-to-back wins. And Dalot had the best chance to give Erik ten Hag’s side the lead in the first-half.

Just after the half-hour mark, the returning lofted a stunning ball into the path of the defender. He ran beyond the West Ham defence, and skipped past Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who had raced out of his box in an attempt to claim the ball.

Faced with an open goal, Dalot looked sure to score but somehow fired way over the bar with his right-footed effort. He then slumped to his knees and put his hands on his head after the miss.

Teammate was also barely able to believe the miss, as he too put his hands on his face. Red Devils fans also shared their disbelief on social media throughout the first half.

One fan said: “Dalot can't even score without a goalkeeper. MISS OF THE SEASON,” while another wrote: “Dalot I literally have no words.”

Another supporter said: “See the stills of that Dalot miss and think oh it can’t be as bad as that, see actual clip of it and it’s somehow worse.”

And some supporters were also concerned that United would be made to rue the miss. Another United fan said: “We should be putting West Ham to the sword atm. it’s a pretty bang average performance against a really poor side liverpool city would be 3-4 up by now. can’t find anything to generate a score. Dalot should’ve finished how he missed is a joke."

What has gone wrong for United this season?

A final supporter added: “Worst part about that Dalot miss is if we lose this game I swear that chance will haunt me and keep me up until 04 just replaying that atrocious miss in my head.”

Dalot’s miss was just the latest in a long line of wasted opportunities for the Red Devils this season. United have now passed up 22 big chances in the Premier League this term - more than any other side, while they have now also failed to score in the first-half in eight out of their opening nine games.

They then found themselves behind in the second-half as ex-Leeds star Crysencio Sumerville opened the scoring for the Hammers. But Casemiro levelled matters for United. West Ham were not to be denied as netted from the penalty spot late on.

Boss Ten Hag will be hoping his side can discover their goalscoring touch ahead of what is set to be a busy few weeks. The Red Devils take on in the Carabao Cup in midweek ahead of hosting next weekend.
