Emmerdale Belle Dingle's saviour from Tom King 'revealed' after heartbreaking twist

Send Push

Viewers saw one character finally cottoning onto Tom King's evil ways on Thursday, at a time his abuse victim Belle Dingle needed it the most..

While she has the support of her family and some of the villagers, Belle has been accused of lying by Tom and others. Her worrying behaviour amid her mental health spiralling has left some residents not giving her their full support against Tom.

Belle is facing prison after her recent attack on Tom in self-defence, after he tried to kill her. She can't prove she was in danger though, while she has reported him to the police for domestic violence.

With her telling her family everything, she's now trying to prove what Tom has done, while some of his crimes have not even been exposed yet. On Wednesday we saw detective Foy tell Belle he believed her allegations, and he vowed to bring Tom to justice.

But with a lack of evidence and Belle breaking her bail conditions, there was concern Tom would evade justice. Things escalated on Thursday, as Tom smirked over Belle's declining mental wellbeing.

Belle's family were concerned for her as the character, who has schizophrenia, admitted she was hearing voices again. She was shown trying to dig up her dad's grave as she tried to make contact with him after his recent death.

As Belle opened up to her loved ones, they reached out to the mental health crisis team with Belle admitted to a secure unit. On finding this out, Tom and his new flame Amelia Spencer was shown smirking that Belle was struggling, with Amelia clearly believing it backed up Tom's claims.

But someone else in the episode was shown questioning the truth about Tom after realising something was very wrong. Nicola's young stepson Carl was visibly scared of his cousin Tom, avoiding him and acting nervously around him.

Carl had been threatened by Tom recently after he got hold of his iPad, which could expose Tom's lies about spying on Belle. This is the missing evidence that could expose Tom, and Carl knows he smashed it up to hide it.

Nicola became aware of Carl's fear of Tom on Thursday, and she was seen trying to work out the truth. She told husband Jimmy about it all and suggested Tom "wasn't as innocent as he seemed".

As Nicola vowed to get to the bottom if it all, it was clear she was onto Tom. So will Nicola be the one to help Belle and bring Tom down for good?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on , , , , , and .
