Death in Paradise star Ben Miller feels bad for his 'poor wife' as he embarks on an exciting new venture.

The television favourite has turned his creative talents to the literary world, crafting a children's book inspired by the legendary Robin Hood. His latest work is titled 'Robin Hood Aged 10 3/4,' offering a fresh twist on the classic tale.

It centres around Charlie, a young boy who faces challenges fitting in and dealing with bullies.

In the run-up to writing his novel, Ben lavished praise on his spouse Jess for her unwavering support. Chatting with Express.co.uk, he expressed his gratitude: "Definitely my wife Jess, she is just amazing.

"God knows how she has to listen to me talking a lot about stuff. My poor wife I then had to drag her along to see a Norman castle. She said, 'God do we really have to do this? ' They actually all loved going to see it. It was an amazing thing to do for the research."

Despite the initial reluctance, Ben acknowledged Jess's incredible support: "Although she did enjoy it, she probably would not have chosen to do it. But she has been brilliant and really really really supportive."

In an earlier discussion, Ben revealed to Digital Spy how his daughter Lana became the muse for the book's female protagonist.

"I am always kind of writing about my own kids so there's a lot of my daughter, Lana in the main character. She's one of those characters that has huge potential but she doesn't really believe in herself, particularly at the beginning. The story is about her coming to believe in herself," he explained, delving into the essence of his book's lead.

Ben is optimistic that his book will introduce the story of Robin Hood to a younger audience.

"I really loved Robin Hood growing up. I love that story. The idea of living wild in a forest, hanging out, the freedom with all your friends. Drinking ale and making merry in the middle of a forest always sounded rather attractive," he expressed.

"I felt like it's been a while since there's been a film of Robin Hood or a TV series about Robin Hood... So I thought maybe there's a moment to rediscover it as well for children."
