An investigation has been launched into the incident, according to WorksSafe WA, who are looking into whether the gym breached its duty of care.

It's thought that Giuliano's blood sugar and dropped to dangerous levels, which lead to a seizure, the family told ABC Radio.

Daniela Pirone, Giuliano's mother, said her son was seen on CCTV footage running on a treadmill. At one point, he was seen "not feeling too good". As he walked towards the bathroom, he was seen bumping into several pieces of gym equipment.

She said: "He staggers to the showers, holding his stomach. [He] must have just locked himself in, felt hot, turned the cold water on and bang, he collapsed."

The family are demanding answers, saying that it's unbelievable that gym staff failed to notice his body for 15 hours. They have called for an inquest to investigate if tougher regulations are needed in the fitness industry.
