BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood replaced on morning show as co-star makes announcement

Carol Kirkwood, was noticeably absent from Monday's episode of BBC Breakfast and is expected to be off-screen for the next few weeks.

The 62-year-old weather presenter's absence has led BBC bosses to bring in Matt Taylor as a replacement, who took to social media to update his followers. he wrote: "Good morning all! I'll be looking after most of your @BBCBreakfast weather forecasts for the next 3 weeks. It's a humid start to the week too, with rain for some. Thunderstorms are possible for a few in the Met Office YELLOW warning area."

The 46-year-old meteorologist received a warm welcome from fans on his post, with one user writing: "Good morning Matt have a wonderful day." Another added: "Good morning Matt, the weather has definitely been unpredictable." However, the news may come as a surprise to many, as Carol has been a cherished figure on the network since she joined in 1998. In July, the blonde presenter made a significant career announcement away from the popular morning show, reports OK!.

Carol, who tied the knot with her second husband Steve Randall in Buckinghamshire last December 27, revealed that she had ventured into writing and was about to release a new book, a departure from her TV career. This latest reveal about moving into a new venture has left fans eagerly anticipating what's next.

Turning to social media to give a glimpse into her upcoming venture, the TV host-turned-author showcased the cover of her new novel, 'Once Upon a Time in Venice. ' Her excitement was palpable as she shared with her followers: "So thrilled that my fourth book 'Once Upon a Time in Venice' is out TODAY! ! ! This would not be happening without all your support. THANK YOU @HarperFiction @katebradleySW6 xxx."

Reacting with enthusiasm, a fan posted: "Congratulations Carol. Wishing you great success." Another added their voice to the chorus, saying: "Oooh yaaay can not wait to get it. Super excited about this one, which I am sure will be as good if not better than the others ahhhhhhhhhhh." A third simply added: "Congratulations!"
