Andrew Garfield and Amelia Dimoldenberg's secret romance signs as Chicken Shop Date drops

It's the Chicken Shop Date the entire internet has been eagerly awaiting, with just one question on their lips: will Andrew Garfield and Amelia Dimoldenberg hit it off properly this time?

Fans of 29-year-old British journalist Amelia's awkwardly endearing form of interviews have been waiting with baited breath for Hollywood star Andrew to appear on her YouTube show ever since they first met on the red carpet at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in November 2022.

"I've been trying to get a date with you for a while," she told him, to which he laughed awkwardly and said he hadn't had the invite. During their chat, he told her he was a fan of her work and added: "You look very beautiful."

When they met for the second time on the 2023 Golden Globes red carpet, she joked: "We must stop meeting like this." He replied: "I only ever wanna see you..." before Amelia interrupted with a, "What?!" Andrew, breaking into giggles, attempted to claim: "On like a… that’s not the end of the sentence! I only ever wanna see you in these sort of situations."

When she invited him to her birthday party, he asked her astrological sign and claimed people whose sun and moon sign match have strong connections. "It's good," he blushed.

Amelia Dimoldenberg's dating history

It wouldn't be the first time Amelia has taken a chicken shop date into real life. In 2019, her fans picked up on the obvious flirtation between her and rapper Aitch when he appeared on an episode, and in March 2022 they went public with their relationship with a post Aitch put up on TikTok.

"Yeah you guessed it, f*** off now," he captioned it, tagging his girlfriend. He also shared a snap of them to his , referring to her as 'Amelia Armstrong' - his real surname. In response, Amelia appeared in his and Ashanti's music video for Baby and told Kiss FM that the pair were spending time together. "I like him a lot, I love that he loves me so much," she said at the time.

But just weeks later, the couple had split. Addressing their breakup in a TikTok video, the pair talked through their issues and decided they were better off as friends - sealing their new relationship chapter with 'best friends' bracelets.

The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew, 41, has dated a string of famous women over the years. He and Emma Stone were an item when they met on the set of Spider-Man in 2011 - where she was playing his on-screen love interest Gwen Stacy. They fell for each other, despite being warned not to date by producer Amy Pascal.

"We got on really well as people, in between [takes]," he said at the time. "That was the fun stuff: In between, we'd just mess around, and I felt, 'Ah, this is different.' I wasn't really aware what was happening in the screen test. She keeps you on your toes, and that wakes you up. That was the beginning."

The pair sadly split four years later, and Andrew was a single pringle until meeting in 2018. They were spotted holding hands on a date in London, but just four months later their budding romance hit the rocks. "The relationship just fizzled out. It's sad but they have both accepted the situation and moved on," a source told the at the time.

In November 2021, Andrew was linked to model Alyssa Miller, but again it wasn't to be: by April 2022 he was single once again, with a source explaining their busy work schedules left little time for them to be a couple. Alyssa poked fun at the reports on Instagram, writing: "If you must gossip at least use a cute photo. Lol love you AG."

Andrew was linked to Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor later in 2022 after the two met at the GQ Men of the Year Awards. They dated for a short time, but again, nothing came of their romance.

Early in 2024, Andrew was linked to self-described witch doctor Dr Kate Tomas, with Us Weekly reporting that "things are fairly new" between them but "she's down to earth and he feels very comfortable with her".

"Andrew really appreciates the fact that Kate is very different from other women he's dated," said an insider. "He thinks she has a great sense of humour and she's easy to talk to."

But shortly before the Chicken Shop Date episode dropped, it was reported Andrew and Kate had split. She addressed it herself on Instagram, writing in a comment: "We broke up months ago but I'm sure he will be happy to know that he is loved." When a follower asked if she'll "ever stop talking" about the British actor, she replied tartly: "Sweetheart, the only people who ever talk about or center a man in my life, work, business and social media are women like you."

Short answer: not as far as we can tell... yet. The pair have undeniable chemistry, though. And when Amelia dropped the trailer for their Chicken Shop Date, it was clear they'd played heavily into their previous red carpet flirtations as they were filmed making lots of eye contact as they said 'hey' to each other, and Andrew even bit his lip as he looked at her.

He has previously spoken about wanting to find love, but couldn't be sure he believed in the traditional family set-up. In 2019 he said: "I do believe in love at first sight but I also believe that you would love absolutely anybody if you knew their story.

"I believe that the modern notion of romantic love is seriously misguided and it creates a lot of problems in our modern . I believe that we need to reevaluate this idea that we have of the nuclear family, this idea that we have of two-point-four children, this idea we have that it’s Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve. I believe it’s possible for all of us to be in love all the time with ourselves and everyone around us."

Meanwhile, while Amelia has happily revealed she's single, she told Drew Barrymore that she shared a secret kiss with someone shortly before the release of her Chicken Shop Date episode with Andrew.

"I'm feeling really good about being single at the moment, but that's because I kissed someone recently," she revealed on Drew's show.

"With tongue?!" the Hollywood actress demanded to know, and Amelia admitted: "Yeah, with tongue."

But she deigned to give Drew the name of her mystery smooch, prompting fans to question whether it was in fact Andrew...
