Fulham are reportedly weighing up Marco Silva's future at Craven Cottage, with the Portuguese coach said to be reluctant to sign a new contract in the capital. The west London outfit are hovering just above the Premier League relegation zone after 11 matches and were defeated 2-0 by Everton on Saturday.
Fulham enjoyed an incredible season under Silva last time around as they won 15 league matches to secure an 11th-place finish. But they've found life a lot tougher this season, with the side also suffering defeats to the likes of Chelsea, Bournemouth and Arsenal. And Express Sport looks at four managerial candidates Fulham could turn to if they decide to sever ties with Silva, which talkSPORT claim is a possibility.
Brendan Rodgers
Former Liverpool and Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is out of work after leaving Celtic last month.
The 52-year-old took Liverpool to within a whisker of Premier League title success in 2013 before the Reds were ultimately denied silverware by Manchester City.
Rodgers may be interested in another shot at coaching in the English top-flight, although he did struggle in his final season with Leicester as the club were relegated at the end of the 2023/24 campaign after he was sacked in April.
Erik ten Hag
Erik ten Hag suffered two sackings in less than a year after losing his job with Bayer Leverkusen at the start of September following his Manchester United exit. And he will be desperate to prove that he still has what it takes to succeed in management.
The Dutchman led Ajax to three Eredivisie titles, before winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup with the Red Devils.
So he clearly knows what it takes to win silverware, and Fulham could give him the perfect route back to English football.
Liam Rosenior
Liam Rosenior spent almost two years with Hull and led the north east side to a seventh-place finish in the Championship last season. Remarkably, he was sacked by the Tigers after they missed out on the play-offs and was then appointed Strasbourg boss.
Strasbourg have begun the season well and are fourth in the Ligue 1 table after winning seven of their 12 matches.
And with Rosenior having a reputation as a manager who possesses plenty of acumen, Fulham could be rewarded if they take a chance on him.
Michael Carrick
Michael Carrick is another manager who has cut his teeth in the Championship. The former England midfielder, who was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's assistant at Manchester United, led Middlesbrough to the Championship play-offs in 2023 as well as two other top 10 finishes in the second tier. But he was sacked by the club in the summer.
Carrick is an intelligent man and has articulated himself well during appearances on Match of the Day 2 this season. And Fulham chiefs may feel he could make an impact at Craven Cottage.
